Making collagen takes three steps, and most products help with one. Bakuchiol stimulates the fibroblasts that produce it. Botanical vitamin C is the cofactor skin cannot build collagen without. Read the deeper ingredient science: seven more botanicals

Skin is a living organ, not an impermeable barrier. Its outermost layer, the stratum corneum, is held together by a specific cocktail: roughly 50% ceramides and waxes, 25% cholesterol, 10% free fatty acids, and the cells they surround. When that cocktail is intact, skin protects and breathes. When it is depleted, everything goes wrong at once: dryness, sensitivity, inflammation, even acne.

The oil your skin makes on its own, sebum, is structurally the same class of molecule as a botanical seed oil. A well-formulated plant oil does not sit foreign on the surface. It is recognised. It is a top-up.

Of all the fatty acids skin depends on, the most important (and the most often missing) is linoleic acid.

Dermatological research cited in Susan Parker's Power of the Seed shows that topical linoleic acid can restore barrier function in as little as four weeks. Low linoleic is also associated with breakout-prone skin, where the problem is not excess oil but imbalance.
